TankESPTM is a tank emissions calculation software product suite that uses the emission estimation procedures from Chapter 7 of U.S. EPA’s Compilation of Air Pollutant Emission Factors (AP-42) for volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions from storage tanks

The TankESP Software Product Suite is available as three different editions to meet different levels of storage tank emission calculation requirements:

  • TankESP PRO
  • TankESP FX
  • TankESP LT

TankESP is widely regarded as the most accurate tank emission calculation tool on the market. It was designed by Rob Ferry, one of the authors of AP-42 Chapter 7.1 and American Petroleum Institute (API) documents 19.1, 19.2 and 19.4.

Basic Features:

  • Compatible with the TankESP Database (TankESP_d) Version 4.0 backend file
  • Utilizes tabular data entry forms to quickly populate throughput and product data for routine emission calculations
  • Includes calculation templates for non-routine tank cleaning, roof landing, and change of service emissions
  • Stores user-defined pure chemicals, stocks, and locations data, tanks and service information data
  • No limit on the number of sites, tanks, stocks, or pure chemicals
  • Includes numerous tank types with custom tank setup
  • Accommodates automated reporting on monthly, quarterly, and annual bases
  • Exports emissions data and reports to Excel

Technical Features:

  • Calculates a tank’s worst-case, short-term emissions based on its monthly short-term emissions
  • Calculates working loss and standing loss
  • Applies TCEQ and API methodologies to estimate maximum short-term (pound/hour) emission estimates
  • Estimates emissions from floating-roof landings and tank cleanings using AP-42 methodology
  • Accommodates mid-month changes in service, calculating the emissions for a given service based on the number of days that the tank was in that service
  • Adjusts emission estimates to account for a change in tank construction while maintaining historical records
  • Accounts for the control efficiency when vapors are routed to a control device
